Keep a short record for each unit, updated at move-in and every renewal.

What to record

  • The adults on the lease, with phone and email.
  • An emergency contact.
  • Occupants and pets as the lease allows.
  • Vehicles, if parking is assigned.
  • The lease start and end dates.

Protect it

Keep it private, and never store Social Security or bank account numbers in a simple list.
