Planning fuel stops before the trip

Running low in an expensive area or detouring for fuel wastes time and money. Planning stops from the tank size and miles per gallon fixes that.

A truck's range is its usable fuel times its miles per gallon. Planning stops ahead lets you pick discounted, safe, convenient places.

Work it out

  • Tank capacity in gallons.
  • The share you are willing to use before refueling, often about three quarters.
  • Average miles per gallon.
  • Trip miles.

Pick the stops

Mark the miles where you need fuel, then choose stops near those points with your fuel card discount and parking.

Our fuel stop planner shows how many stops and how far apart.
