Litigation hold notices: tracking who was told to preserve

When a case is expected, counsel may send hold notices telling people to keep relevant documents and data. Tracking who received them and confirmed is part of the record.

A litigation hold tells people not to delete or discard information that may matter to a case. Counsel decides when to send one and who receives it.

Track each recipient

  • Name and role.
  • The date the notice was sent.
  • The date they acknowledged it in writing.
  • Reminder dates.
  • The date the hold was released, when counsel says so.

Follow up

Recipients who have not acknowledged should be reminded. Counsel decides how often to send reminders.

Our hold notice tracker shows who has and has not confirmed.
