Florida law enforcement agencies file crash reports with the state. Reports that reveal personal information are generally confidential for 60 days after filing, except to the people involved, their attorneys and insurers, and certain others. Those requesting during that period may need to sign a sworn statement.

Where to request

  • The investigating agency: police department, sheriff or Florida Highway Patrol.
  • The state's online crash report portal.

What you need

  • The report number, if known.
  • The date and location of the crash.
  • The names of the drivers.

Track it

Note the request date and follow up. Some agencies take days or weeks.

Our crash report request builder writes the request letter.
